Twenty One Pilots Drop Re-Imagined Version of "Cut My Lip"

September 2024 · 2 minute read

Twenty One Pilots have dropped a re-imagined version of Trench track ‘Cut My Lip’, making it the second song to be released for the duo’s Location Sessions.

Similarly to the acoustic of ‘Chlorine’ we were gifted to a couple of weeks ago, the title of this re-imagined track – ‘Cut My Lip (40.6782°N, 73.9442° W)’ – contains coordinates. This time, they locate an avenue in Brooklyn, New York. Tyler Joseph recently reconstructed five Twenty One Pilots songs live in a Storyteller Performance at a radio station in Brooklyn, so it’s possible the audio from the re-imagined version of ‘Cut My Lip’ is from the same performance. Incredibly impressive stuff!

While the original version of ‘Cut My Lip’ is fairly mellow, with an emotional, touching bridge, the re-imagined version sees the track constructed in a way that accentuates its raw elements. It’s completely different from the studio version while retaining and emphasising everything we know and love about ‘Cut My Lip’. Twenty One Pilots’ creative ability knows no bounds, and they never cease to amaze us with every single thing they do.

Listen to Twenty One Pilots’ re-imagined ‘Cut My Lip’ from the Location Sessions below!

Although Tyler and Josh recently wrapped on their huge Bandito world tour, the duo aren’t slowing down anytime soon. They’ll be bringing a taste of Trench to festivals across Europe and the US over the next few months; performing at Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival, Sziget Festival, Pukkelpop Belgium and Reading and Leeds Festival, to name a few. After the string of festivals, they’ll be heading back to the US for the third instalment of the Bandito tour, where they’ll be playing another 17 arenas before the year is up. It seems that none of us can get enough of the band! Full tour dates and festival appearances can be found here.
